I am also a victim
It was three and a half years ago, and I’m not sure if it was the same person, but I assume it is. I remember him being maybe in his mid 40s-early 50s. I met him on a Friday afternoon at the ACE 42nd St. subway station in Manhattan. He spoke to me in (a not perfect) Yiddish with an accent. He said he had to stay at a hotel for Shabbos and he’s going back to Israel right after Shabbos. I said I have no money on me, so he managed to make me get off the train and take out $200.00 for him from an ATM. Then after I finished he convinced me to take out another $40 so he can get some food for Shabbos. He took my email address and phone number and promised to get in touch with me right after Shabbos to pay me back. He wrote this note on the two sides of the ATM receipt.
He also wrote down what he said was his mother’s name and number in Israel because she would help me with a personal issue we discussed (not that I was interested, but I thought it was nice of him).
After not hearing from him, calling the numbers, and even seeing that there was no such address either, I went to the police who told me they will not file a report because there’s nothing they could do about it. I was just scammed, or something like that.
