Yidel, the opposite is true. The third point doesn't reall change anything, it's just an aside on what really bothered Einstein. But if I understand where Maybe is going with his explanation, it doesn't really work with many observed relativistic effects. Take for example the famous muon decay experiment:
<a class="postlink" href="http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/relativ/muon.html">http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hb ... /muon.html</a>
The fundemental change here is in identity of a particle, and this is not mediated by the electromagnetic force at all. Yet, we see that there is spacetime dilation at relativistic speeds there, from the *muons *point of view! This has nothing to do with how we experience e/m phenomena. P
So, unless i misunderstand what Maybe is trying to say, I'm afraid he's a bit on the wrong track there, Although, it's interesting that the way he is going is in fact how people explained the Michelson-Morley experiment *before* Einstein's idea came along. So it's quite clever! But still wrong. d

Whew!! Deep stuff here. As per my disclaimer, I didn’t really follow thru all the way with my understanding of Einstein’s theory. The best I can expect is that I might be on to something.
Dear ‘Voice of my Lover’, (Kol Dodi, right? )
On your point 1 and 2;
How do we observe, and experience change in energy level, or any change due to the other 3 (or possibly more, according to some string theorists) forces? In the end we experience it with our senses, i.e. we experience it as change to our chemical makeup. Our perception of ALL of reality is therefore based on the electro- magnetic force.
Even if I am wrong on the capped ALL above, my notion of why the speed of electromagnetic energy is the basis for our measuring of time/distance, still holds. For you do agree that the vast majority of our experiences are mediated with the electromagnetic force.
My basic notion of the space-time continuum is that we don’t use space to explain space, i.e. we don’t explain space by saying that it is a measurement of how many other spatial entities you can fit into this one. That would be going in circles, wouldn’t it? So the explanation of space would be ‘the time it takes to get from point A to point B’. Go ahead and try to explain it otherwise.
We then realize how space is very strongly intertwined with time and speed. We also realize that the time/speed associated with the very concept of space has to be a constant; otherwise it would not function as a measurement. The electromagnetic speed is seemingly the chosen one (regardless if I am correct as to the underlying logic in its being chosen). If that speed is changed it automatically affects our measurement of space.
The above is an extremely simplistic way of looking at it. A deeper level would then be to realize that space and time are essentially the same; it’s just looking at reality from different perspectives. We might then see that we have simply allocated part of the measurement as space and part of it as time. It would be as if we divided an object in two and measured each half individually, we would know that the total is the sum of both measurements. If we would then take part of one half and allocate it to the other half, we would know that whatever we added to part B should be deducted from part A. The same would be with space and time, whatever we add in one measurement we lose in the other.
Please note (it might be glaringly obvious) I only dabbled in this idea, no real knowledge here. Then again that goes to everything I know.
Maybe yes, maybe no,
Maybe maybe
Maybe, your conclusion is absolutely correct (with space and time "borrowing" from each other), but the reason you give for it isn't quite so. How does human perception affect all this? This isn't quantum physics.
As I pointed out, muons will "live" longer when they travel faster. This has nothing to do with human perception: when we perceive the muons they have already finished traveling (and finished existing). This will happen without any interaction at all. How would you explain that? How did they manage to arrive at the bottom of the mountain and still exist -- while there was not a single electromagnetic interaction in between? How is this related to our perception (which is indeed mediated by e/m force)s? P
Kol,
you write;
“ How does human perception affect all this? This isn't quantum physics.”
Isn’t this theory all about the idea that space and time is NOT objective fact but rather subjectively dependent on the perception of the observer?
Don’t we say that space is affected based on the speed of the object in relation to me? Well, it seems to me that the only way speeding objects relate to me are through my senses, which operate at electromagnetic speed, or speed of light.
I cannot stress enough that I didn’t really study this subject and whatever I did read about it was a long time ago. These notions are just that, notions. That the uniqueness of the speed of light is due to the speed of my sense reactions, is NOT something I necessarily read someplace. It’s just my way of explaining it to myself somewhat. I’m not certain about it at all.
Why then did I interject here, you ask? Dunno, I thought [and still think] that there was an important element missing in this discussion. Namely that we can get a better idea of what it’s all about by simply trying to explain space. For we will then realize that time and speed are an integral part of space, or to be more precise, they are one and the same. Which explains how when speed changes so does space. (See my previous comments for a bit more detail on this)
As to the historical influence of the Michelson-Morley experiments on Einstein, I wouldn’t be so certain about your assertion. See here <a class="postlink" href="http://arxiv.org/ftp/arxiv/papers/0908/0908.1545.pdf">http://arxiv.org/ftp/arxiv/papers/0908/0908.1545.pdf</a>. You rightly pointed out to Yidel, that it doesn’t matter if it was the Michelson-Morley empirical experiment or if it was Maxwell’s mathematical equation. Either way what bothered him was how the speed of light always remains constant.
I really don’t know what the deal is with muons. In discussing Einstein’s theory I’m inclined to follow his lead and discuss it theortically rather than empirically. [Be’Asra D’mar]. I think that we should be able to explore the logic of the issue without going off in tangents about this muon or that lepton.
Maybe, you write:
"Isn’t this theory all about the idea that space and time is NOT objective fact but rather subjectively dependent on the perception of the observer?"
No, not at all. Spacetime is *relative*, not subjective. These are very very different things. Spacetime does not depend in any observer *at all*, which is why I keep pointing to the famous muon experiment. I had a feeling you this is where you get it wrong. These effects ate *independent of any observer*, which is why your explanation does not work
Being relative implies that spacetime only makes sence when talking about a relationship between two things, say a train
and earth. It does *not* mean than it depends on the observer
As for whether Enstein knew about Michelson-Morley, I'm aware there's some controversy over that, but in any case he never mentions it in his original paper. What bothered him clearly were Maxwell's equations. These don't show that the speed of light is constant, but if it is constant it saves the equations from lots of trouble that nobody before Einstein had a clear answer to.
To go back to the muon: the muon lives longer in relationship to earth, because it is moving very fast in relationship to earth. But this doesn't depend on any observer on earth, and it certainly down not depend on any e/m interactions. It will reach earth still "alive" regardless if anyone is there to observe it.
I realize you made sense out of this in a very specific way and you are reluctant to give that up, but it doesn't really jive with Einstein's theory.

No, space has nothing to do with how fast it will take you to get from one end to another. It exists independently. Well, in Einstein's theory space-time is a single four-vector, but it's not necessarily so. It also is not very logical. Why do you think space depends upon how long it will take you to get from one end to another? If I use a yardstick to measure the width of my house, it really does *not* depend on how long it takes me to get from one end to another.

Sigh. Again, this is just not so. It has nothing to do with our perception. This speed *is* in fact a mysterious fundamental property of the universe, and it has really nothing to do with our chemical reactions. See parshas muons for the most famous example. You can easily convince yourself that this is so by setting up an experiment undisturbed by human observation, where the only observation will be on the effect *after it already happened*. I don't know why you keep insisting that it is a function of human perception when an elementary text on the subject should convince you that it isn't so.

Let's imagine these two things crash into each other and change completely (depending on their speed relative to each other of course), then what? Are you saying they didn't "really" change because nobody was there to see it? Or since nobody was there to see it then they didn't really "know" how fast they are going relative to each other so nothing will happen? And how much energy will be released if they both are travelling at 99 percent the speed of light towards each other so that their relative speed is MORE than the speed of light? (Hint: trick question. Remember there is NO observer.

Not sure what you want. You are *factually* wrong, logic or no logic. Relativity effects happen even in the absence of observers, so it makes no difference that we use chemical reactions to make sense of the world. It is not observer dependant, no matter how logical you think your argument is. Are you disputing this? As I said, these affects happen if you have two particles speeding towards each other with a certain speed and then crash into each other. The particles don't have chemical reactions and don't make sense of the world at all -- and they don't care how you make sense of it. It isn't my fault that the world doesn't seem logical: I didn't create it. (And yes, let's take for granted for now that if a tree falls in the forest, it has indeed fallen even if nobody saw it fall, okay? Can we go with that? p
Re. measuring space, I like to measure space by the amount of vacuum energy it contains. What's wrong with that? Nothing to do with any 'speed' or other such arbitrary measures.

Kant, in the Critique of Pure Reason, described time as an a priori notion that, together with other a priori notions such as space, allows us to comprehend sens
experience. Kant denies that either space or time are substance, entities in themselves, or learned by experience; he holds rather that both are elements of a systematic framework we use to structure our experience. Spatial measurements are used to quantify how far apart objects are, and temporal measurements are used to quantitatively compare the interval between (or duration of) events. Although space and time are held to be transcendentally ideal in this sense, they are also empirically real, i.e. not mere illusions.

I'm afraid I fail to see your point. Whose keilim are you talking about? Fundamental particles don't have "chemical" reactions. When two of them crash into each other, "stuff" happens whether someone is around or not. This happens all the time all around us, and the after affects are very visible to us. Now, the "type" of explosion that happens depends on their speed relative to each other. So, let me press you to answer a simple question, and please try to do so: two particles speeding towards each other with 99 percent the speed of light EACH, how much energy will be released in the explosion? Equivalent to what total speed? Remember this: there is no one around to observe it. BUT, what happens to the particles in the explosion will depend on energy level, and the after-affects will remain so that much later, when someone is born, s/he will be able to tell how much energy was released

Yeah, Kant knew not what he was talking about when it came to physical reality. This is typical of "pure" philosophers.
In order to continue this discusion, I''ll wait for you to answer the two simple questions. The first one about what you think
happens when two particles speed toward each other and crash (as mentioned above), and the second one is this one that I also mentioned above:
"Re. measuring space, I like to measure space by the amount of vacuum energy it contains. What's wrong with that? Nothing to
"do with any 'speed' or other such arbitrary measures.
This should be simple to answer; please don't quote Kant at me instead of answering. Thank you. p
Spatial measurements are used to quantify how far apart objects are apart

As I said, Kant knew nothing about physical reality. As I also said, I measure space by the amount of vacuum energy it contains. Now please answer both my questions, or if you cannot please admit that you cannot and I will answer them. p
As to you question #1, please give me your answer. I am assuming that I will accept it in this discussion, for as mentioned above it is not related to the issue at hand. So please tell me your answer and I will probably agree to it.
As to point #2. Please use something other than an aspect of quantum physics to explain space, pulllease. Is that the best we can do? Come now.
It should be irrelevant if I don’t know precisely or at all what vacuum energy is or that maybe I don’t think it makes sense to start a whole discussion on that. Are
you saying that you cannot explain space only with this particular phenomenon?
For the joke of it I would say that you should remember that Einstein did not agree to the concept of energy-time uncertainty which I think vacuum physics is part and parcel of.
Kidding aside, are you saying that Kant didn’t know what he was talking about on the basic level of understanding the concept and definition of space? Wow!! That’s a biggie.
Yes, that is exactly what I am saying. Philosophers are notorious for knowing nothing about physics and physical reality! p
As for an explanation of space, my point is simply this: you can choose any arbitrary explanation, dependant upon context. When you talk of the energy it contains you can measure it by that. When you talk about the time it takes to get from one side to the other, you can measure it by that. When you talk on the affect it has on other space beside it, you can measure it by that. When you talk about how it interacts with matter, you can measure it by that. However you choose to measure it, It is a fundamental property of our universe (just like fundamental matter in fact! What is matter? Hint: fundamental particles don't take up any space) and it makes no sense at all to insist that it is somehow tied with the notion of the time it takes to get from one side to another, just because you or Kant chose to define it that way.
As for my other question, it goes to the very heart of the matter. The answer clearly shows that this universal speed limit is not tied to how we perceive time and space, but is something much more fundamental than that. And that is the main point I'm trying to raise.
I respectfully disagree on your opinion about philosophers.
Please just take out vacuum energy from your explanation of space. Can you do that for me? As mentioned previously, in 1905 Einstein *had* to have a different way of explaining it, right? So taking that out of the equation if you will. Is it possible to have this discussion as if we are pre quantum? Do we really need the [quantum] entanglement on top of all our other entanglements here? Let’s see if we can have a definition of space without quantum physics.
If the only way you can explain space is with quantum mechanics, are you then tacitly agreeing that in a pre-quantum world I am right?
Please give me a precise definition of space.
Don’t call this philosophy, why not call it a thought experiment here? Don’t even scientists do that? Ok, maybe only those fuddy duddy theoretical physicists like Einstein and the likes. I once read that after the great Australian expedition that corroborated Einstein’s theory, they asked Einstein what would he have said if it the expeditions results would contradict his theory. You know what he answered? “I would have said that these poor sons of b… got it all wrong. Seems that he did have some faith in his analytical thinking.
You seem to really know your stuff and probably better than me. My cutesy rejoinders are just to spice things up here. Not to denigrate you in any way.
You write,
“As for my other question, it goes to the very heart of the matter. The answer clearly shows that this universal speed limit is not tied to how we perceive time and space, but is something much more fundamental than that. And that is the main point I'm trying to raise”
Please answer your question first. I’ll then try to explain why I don’t think it matters at all.

I see. And my main point was that you actually have to know what Einstein said before trying to understand what Einstein said. See what I am saying? ps
So, one more time: If you have a particle speeding right to left at ~299,791km/p/s relative to a certain point in space, and you have another particle speeding left to right at ~299,791km/p/s relative to that same point in space, and then they collide, the energy released will be approximately the equivalent of a collision at 299,792km/p/s, and not anything close to the energy that would've been released at a collision of 599,582 km/p/s, as you would expect. (Since these speeds would naturally add, as you have when two cars speed towards each other and then collide). Now, this is true without any observer existing to witness the collision and without the particles having any e/m interactions at all. What difference does the energy make? Because 5,000 years later, when observers DO exist, we can actually tell how much energy was released in that collision and it will make a HUGE difference on how future events will evolve. ps
Now, this breaks your whole droosheh of how these effects are only a product of our minds, of how we relate time and space.
You might’ve misunderstood me. I have repeated numerous times that I will accept your answer to your question. For the sake of less confusion I asked that you actually answer it and I will accept your answer
When you started explaining why this question “goes to the very heart of the matter”, I asked you to first give me your answer to this question [and as promised, I will accept it for the sake of this discussion] and then I will be able to explain why I think it is not relevant to what I’m trying to say here
I think you misinterpreted when I wrote “Please answer your question first. I’ll then try to explain why I don’t think it matters at all.” Otherwise I don’t know why you seemingly got upset with me and stopped the dialogue
In any event, you answered it now. So with no further ado I hereby accept your answer to your question
Now can you answer my question? Please give me a definition of space/distance without resorting to; a) specialized scientific concepts, b) other spatial entities or concepts
The reason for A is to avoid more confusion and also, very importantly, because I hardly know these very specialized scientific terms
The reason for B is that if we are talking about a definition of a concept, say space, we can’t use that very concept as part of the explanation, duh
Spalungen: definition something which encapsulates many spaplungens. Hmm…. But what are these other spalungens? Oh, they interact and affect yet other spalungens. But what in heavens name is a spalungen????? n
I would like to press the reset button and have a respectful dialogue. If you feel that it’s a total waste because I really don’t know what I’m talking about, I can accept that too. We can still part as friends by you telling it to me decently. After all that is what “may be maybe” is all about
may be maybeNow can you answer my question? Please give me a definition of space/distance without resorting to; a) specialized scientific concepts, b) other spatial entities or concepts
Okay, you have to be crystal clear about what your question is. Is your question how to measure space? I believe I've answered your question above. But now it seems your answer is how to explain it without resorting to other concepts. And the answer to that is quite simple: you can't do it (without resorting to circular definitions). Exactly because it's a fundamental property of our universe. ps
It's exactly the same with all other fundamental properties. What is a fundamental particle? It's the thing that other stuff is made of. What is "stuff"? It's the things that are made of fundamental particles. What is energy? It is the thing that you need in order to do work. What is "work"? It is the thing that takes energy to do. What is a force (such as gravity and eletromagnetism)? It is the thing that, when multiplied with time, changes energy. What is time? It is the thing that, when multiplied with force, changes energy. Wat is energy? It is the thing that is changed with force*time. And so on and so on.
Now, I can in fact put all these in mathematical formulas that will explain beautifully how they behave under all circumstances and will also explain how to measure them (by observing said behaviour under different circumstances), but I can't actually explain what these things are in terms of other things. Exactly BECAUSE these are fundemental properties. And this applies not only to space, as I've noted, but to all other fundemental properties as well.
To be even more clear, I'm trying to point out the difference between *measuring* and talking about its *effects*, and explaining what the thing-in-itself (there, I threw that nonsensical term in especially for Kant fans 🙂 ) *is*. I want you to be clear about what exactly you are asking about.
But now it seems your answer is how to explain it without resorting to other concepts
Correction: without resorting to spatial entities and/or
spatial concepts. For then it is a circular definition. Sure you can use other simple concepts. . .Everything, not only fundamental properties, are explained by other concepts, for without that it is always circular
(there, I threw that nonsensical term in especially for Kant fans )
Kant couldn't agree with you more. That's his whole point. The thing in itself is outside our senses, it
is nonsensical 😉 n
But now it seems your answer is how to explain it without resorting to other concepts. And the answer to that is quite simple: you can't do it
So you can't explain it without using other concepts. Ok agreed
but I can't actually explain what these things are in terms of other things
So you also can't explain it in terms of other things or concepts? Or is this a typo? n
קול דודיTo be even more clear, I'm trying to point out the difference between *measuring* and talking about its *effects*, and explaining what the thing-in-itself (there, I threw that nonsensical term in especially for Kant fans 🙂 ) *is*. I want you to be clear about what exactly you are asking about.
I would rather not limit myself to any of the specific terms you gave me to choose from. For the simple reason that it might then be (mistakenly) construed that all we are talking about is that term
What I'm trying to say is that if i would answer you that I'm looking for the "effects", you will then give me the effects and be done with it. You wouldn't see it as the definition of the concept at hand. I therefore ask you to give the definition of it in the way you believe it should be defined. n
I would suggest you utilize Occam's razor, namely if space could exist as a concept without, say "vacuum energy" then it shouldn't be defined by it. Space, then, in its most elemental understanding
What I meant was, it cannot be described in a non-circular way, similar to other fundemental properties which can also not be described in a non-circular way. However, you *can* describe its effects and behavior under a variety of conditions. But I fail to see the point of this discussion. You said originally that the theory of relativity and the fundental "speed limit" is fundamentally tied to how we perceive events and the speed of our chemical
reactions. I pointed out that if you know what the theory of relativity actually says, this theory
of yours is plainly false, as I pointed out above with two speeding particles. So no matter your philosophy, this "speed limit" is not tied to our perception or to the speed of chemical reactions. It is much more fundemental then that.
Beyond that, I really have no interest in discussing philosophy as divorced from reality with no regard to how physical reality actually works. If I wanted that I'd rather discuss kabooleh instead.
Note also (as you see from the speeding particles) that speed is indeed "real", exactly as "real" as the existence of particles itself! Would you say that its existence is also dependent on an observer? Your claim that since speed is relative means that it's subjective and not objective, betrays a deep misunderstanding of what relativity means. This too I've tried to explain first by the muon experiment, and then i simplified it to the speeding particle case. So your philosophy which staryed the diacusion doesn't work when you take into account how things work (as is usually the case with pure philosophy). That's all I've tried to point out, and I hope you've learned something about relativity in the process. m

קול דודי But I fail to see the point of this discussion.
Maybe the point is that when we talk so much about time and space it might be of great help to define the concepts in discussion. n
I quoted Kant to you where he denies that either space or time are substance or entities in themselves, but they are rather simply elements of a systematic framework we use to structure our experience". You so courageously dismissed it out of hand, saying "Kant knew not what he was talking about when it came to physical reality
Then I quoted Einstein saying precisely the same thing "Space and time are modes by which we think, not conditions under which we live" . n
Shouldn't that point out that maybe, just maybe, it might be worthwhile to have a good grasp of time and space first, and only then go on to 'vacuum energy' and the likes? n
?Is it possible that Einsteins deep philosophical pondering is what got him his theory in the first place
Here's what this Einstein guy writes about philosophy and his theory of relativity
One sees that in this paradox [the pursuing of a beam of light paradox] the germ of the special relativity theory is already contained......Clearly to recognize this axiom and its arbitrary character really implies already the solution of the problem
The type of critical reasoning which was required for the discovery of this central point was decisively furthered, in my case, especially by the reading of David Hume's and Ernst Mach's philosophical writings." (Albert Einstein, "Reply to Criticisms," in Albert Einstein: Philosopher-Scientist, Edited by Paul Arthur Schilpp, Harper Torchbooks, p 679, 1949/1951.) n
For good measure let me add here what Ernst Mach writes on the concept of space [which Einstein claimed helped him get to his theory] n
But we do not measure mere space; we require a material standard of measurement, and with this the whole system of manifold sensations is brought back again. It is only intuitional sense-presentations that can lead to the formulation of the equations of physics, and it is precisely in such presentations that the interpretation of these equations consists. Thus, though the equations only contain spatial numerical measurements, these measurements, also, are merely the ordering principle which tells us out of what members of the series of sensational elements we have to construct our picture of the world. [AS: 343] n
Mach claims that space, its measurement, along with all equations in physics, go back to our sense perceptions. Our whole picture of the world is all but a series of our sense perceptions. n
I believe you remember how I was consistently pushing for this idea. I was trying to explain why electro-magnetic speed is the one we have intertwined in our concept of space. My idea was that it might be due to the fact that our whole reality is really a series of sense presentations, and because these presentations operate with electro-magnetic speed, that is the speed we chose. . n
Your high horse is seemingly taking a nap, go ahead hop off
Ya know, I never saw all these Einstein quotes until now (thanks again Larry and Sergey) I also never knew that he was influenced by Ernst Mach , and I sure as hell never read Mach. I got to all of this now when searching a bit on this issue. It is really beautiful to see how some of my notions seem to be very similar to Mach. This is really news to me. Mach is making it to the top of my reading list. n
So in a way [tortured as it may be] I have learned something about relativity in this discussion. n
איינשטיינ'ס רעלאטיוויטעט תורה
[Listen my friend, I'm sorry if I upset you. As I said, I am uninterested in purely philosophical discussions that are divorced from reality. Quoting Mach will not help you if you fail to understand the very thing you are trying to explain. I pointed out that your explanation (so-called) of relativity makes no sense when you consider what the actual theory says. Perhaps then, you should take your own advice and "try to understand first th thing you are trying to explain"? Or does this not apply to you? n
As for my high-horse, you should consider this: perhaps, just perhaps, you have little to teach me with regards to relativity (the very topic of this thread, I note) and I have much to teach you regarding this topic? Consider how aggravating it is when someone purports to "explain" a topic when it is clear to the listener that his explanation makes no sense, it is simply a product of ignorance. I can live with that, but I submit still that you should try to understand something about a topic before you try explaining it. Drop the false "maybe" humility, And try to listen when you don't know something.
Now, if you now take back your philosophical musings as a supposed explanation of relativity and you simply insist that we have a philosophical discussion about things-in-themselves, I am personally not interrelated, but I can understand that you mightbe. But please please do not attempt to explain something you do not understand. At least not without expecting to be chalanged and without having the humility required to learn something you didn't know before and accepting being corrected in public. Peace out. g
And I disagree that it would be of great help to define the concepts of the discussion as divorced from trying to understand the behavior of those "concepts". That will get you nowhere fast. Einstein first spent many years studying the actual behavior of those concepts and then went ahead and thought hard about what that behavior tells you, NOT the other way around as you attempt to do. The other way leads to "explanations" of behaviors that are exactly the opposite of behaviors you see in the real world. See Aristotle et al. f
Realize that what you are basically doing is repeating again and again how much you know of the theory and how little I know. You have time to go on and on about it, but you haven't found the time to answer my simple request that you should define space.
My explanations do not contradict muons etc. in the slightest. You have not even been reasonable enough to answer my question and as I told you I will then take up your muon issue.
So you resort to stopping the discussion, making snide remarks and then being so high and mighty about it. n
Oh, and I'm totally not upset with you. Surprised maybe, but not upset. Do you think you are the first unreasonable person i ever encountered? n
You have been unreasonable once and I bent over backwards in order to continue the conversation. It didn't bother me in the least to explain away your rude behavior by finding some bs excuse that you probably didn't understand me. I clearly stated that I will not have a problem with you telling me in a decent manner that you feel I don't know the subject matter so you don't want to continue the conversation. I really am not needy for your approbation, sheesh! Sure when you resort to snide remarks I respond in kind .
You write "As for my high-horse, you should consider this: perhaps, just perhaps, you have little to teach me with regards to relativity (the very topic of this thread, I" note) and I have much to teach you regarding this topic? " n
This is exactly how you come thru the whole time. you definitely cant be accused of false humility.
You further write "Consider how aggravating it is when someone purports to "explain" a topic when it is clear to the listener that his explanation makes no sense, it is simply a product of ignorance" n
Why in the world should you get "aggravated" at someone who clearly says that he has this vague notion on a certain issue and would love to explore it here. and that he has NOT studied the subject matter well., and that he's only dabbling. Why would you feel offended? Gosh! n
I'm smiling now as I'm contemplating on the scenario here. May be Maybe is having it out with Kol Dodi. Look how we get attached to even our pseudo names. Ach ach the power of the written word.
Let me just quote here what Mach writes, as I find it mighty interesting
’
I treat matter as a mental symbol standing for a relatively stable complex of sensational elements.
