די קאמענטס פאר א בילד פון humans of new york
Marisa Poggioli The kids are so young but look so mature and serious, where was this taken?
Susan Mergruen: Very interesting contrast between the construction worker and theyoung Hasidim.
Bethany DeMark: Zimpel amazing.
Shaheeda Zahir: I see whats going on here
Bethany Aloha Stibbe: Jewish boys, gotta love 'em
Dinorah Matias: Love the juxtaposition of characters. NYC is a diverse-lovely place. A reason to love it 4ever.
Cristina Ortinsky: poor kids, having to wear those stupid clothes at such a young age and learning, learning, learning all day long
William Johnson: Best to be learning, learning, learning all day....that way they will not have to dig a ditch to get paid. Remember childhood is the shortest portion of life......the rest is trying to be a productive adult.
Elizabeth Jacobi: im not hasidic but i am jewish and i know a lot about the culture.. you dont really know what ur talking about.. theres a lot of symbolism behind the clothing they wear and they have childhoods just like any other children.. they run around play tag and hide and seek like any other kids but their parents put the emphasis on different things in their lives.. and what exactly do u think they're learning? its all the teachings of age-old sages about how to be good and honest poeple.. obviously it's upon the individual to actually act like theyre taught tho
Sarah Monsen: I don't pity the young, smart, respectful, and educated young men in this picture. I pity those who don't see the beauty in diversity, but only see outwardly differences and "stupid clothes".
Cora Torton: oh my goodness ignorance drives me crazy
Cora Torton: beautiful picture and beautiful people
ֿ
Shay Singer: its part of thier religiouis belief.
they are jewish and proud... chasidim
look it up to get a good explanation
JoAnne F Henry: OK so both the intellectual and the ditch digger are integral to society...no?
Deborah Prinner Tietjen: it's simply a great photograph
Kaitlin Sansoucie: All thumbs up for JoAnne F Henry 🙂
